Golf Courses

There are four golf courses within 20 mins drive of Cortijo Grande and many more within an hour drive. The differing course designs and locations will satisfy many golfers’ desire for a challenging game away from home - and the sunny climate makes it possible to play all year round. Many visitors prefer to rent a villa in Cortijo Grande for their holiday while enjoying day trips out to a round of golf at these newly developed resorts.

The closest tennis court is located next to Los Pastores bar & restaurant in Cabrera just 7mins away. The court is well maintained, it’s overlooked by the restaurant terrace and has fantastic views behind the Cabrera mountains. Tennis coaching is also available. There’s also tennis at Vera, 30 mins drive.

Horse Riding

Horse riding in the valley is a memorable holiday experience. Situated in Cabrera, the hills are covered in wild rosemary, thyme and lavender. The dry riverbed winds through steep canyons. The shepherds warmly greet you as they herd their flocks home in the evening.

 

Go Karting

Go karting is a popular evening activity here in the summer. Just 20mins away located in Garrucha. A group of friends can compete against each other on the circuit then relax for a couple of beers before trying again. Lots of fun and a great location with the lights of Mojacar Pueblo in the distance.

Water temperatures rarely drop below 18 degrees which means diving here is a year round sport. Winter prices for PADI courses are under £200. The nearby protected Cabo de Gata coastline (via boat) offers some of the clearest waters in the Med. Located on Mojacar beach.

The waterpark in Vera is an ideal day out for families, it’s only a 20 mins drive away. Slides ranging from kamakazee to black holes and there are slides & pools for toddlers. Open May - September

Mojacar beach water sports

Mojacar beach offers many water sports including kite surfing, windsurfing and surfing. September to April see consistent surf and tubing waves. Water temperature rarely falls below 18 degrees and swells can reach 6 feet.

Skiing

The slopes of Sierra Nevada are within a 2.5 hour drive which means visitors can drive up for the day or the weekend. As most southern ski resorts in Europe, skiers enjoy brilliant sunshine, blue skies and snow.
